The number of females occupying board positions has increased. This is according to the most recent Lord Davies report that claims the number of women on FTSE 100 boards has doubled in the last 4 years. Dianah Worman from CIPD says ‘ All evidence tells us that greater gender diversity at board level boosts performance’. She also suggests that ‘voluntary targets’ is the way forward to furthering the trend of seeing more women in the boardroom.

RSG – Resource Solutions Group (one of the biggest independent recruitment agencies in the UK) has announced the opening in Munich of a new office. This is part of long term strategic and development plans for the company which include opening offices in other European locations. The office will specialise in and focus on recruitment within Germany and ‘further afield’.  The new office comes under the ‘Sanderson brand’.

A ruling by the employment tribunal has said that when determining holiday pay, commission payments should be considered. The ECJ has also agreed. This is following the recent Lock v British Gas case. It will mean that some previous payment estimations may be revised.  There is a limit on claims though, – a 2 years limit, dating from 01 July 2015, will be imposed. Lawspeed have considered the implications of this ruling, namely that The Working Time Regulations 1998 have been amended to reflect the new development. The following has been inserted to regulation 16(3):

 (e) as if, in the case of the entitlement under regulation 13, a worker with normal working hours whose remuneration includes commission or similar payment shall be deemed to have remuneration which varies with the amount of work done for the purpose of section 221.

The effect being that holiday pay calculations for workers who are paid commission as a part of their remuneration must include commission.

Victoria Gribben, has been appointed to the position of corporate development director at Nicholas Associates Ltd.  Nicholas Associates Ltd owns Stafforce –a UK recruiter specialist.  Gribben will be responsible for, amongst other things, ‘to drive growth through merger and acquisitions specifically for Stafforce’.  The company hopes to triple its turnover in 5 years.

Electronic signatures or, as they have now advanced into Digital Signatures are gaining popularity amongst HR and recruitment specialists. According to the article, the benefits of them are that they allow for adherence to compliance in an efficient manner, are cost effective and simple to use. Digital Signatures are also very safely encrypted and comply with international security standards to prevent fraudsters from amending or changing any documents sent to recipients. Also, they allow for more than one signature per document to be signed.  The shift from electronic to digital signatures has seen the benefits of recruiting and hiring people regardless of their location.
