Derval is a Partner and Member of the Finance and Banking Group. He specialises in complex banking litigation and has experience of major commercial and banking cases in English and foreign courts. Derval has been involved in complex litigation involving rights in respect of loan notes, swaps, SIV-lite structures, syndicated loans and interbank money market debt.

Derval has considerable expertise in property acquisition finance disputes with a major part of his practice focused on representing borrowers and guarantors involved in disputes with lenders. Derval has specialist knowledge of NAMA-related matters and has succeeded both in keeping borrowers out of NAMA and in reversing borrowers’ loans out of NAMA after they have been acquired by it.
