Innovation and sustainability merged with luxury retail at Mishcon de Reya and Lawfully Chic’s Fashion Gallery last week. Fashion brand CEOs, industry experts, journalists and lawyers – as well as lovers of fashion – gathered to view the collections from an elite group of exciting British brands. Highlights from the evening can be seen here:
The 10 luxury fashion brands showcasing their designs all had something to teach us about sustainability and style, from Elvis & Kresse’s accessories made out of reclaimed fire hoses to Alona’s beautiful London designed and produced jewellery.

One of my favourites was designer menswear label Private White VC. Manufactured in a central Manchester factory run by the great-grandchildren of military hero Jack White, and using a signature cloth made just a few miles away on the Yorkshire and Lancashire border, Private White VC celebrates the timeless finesse of the countryside gent. Some of the menswear pieces on display, particularly Private White VC’s twin-track grey wax jacket and a great leather bag from another showcasing menswear designer Foxhall, were enough to make any girl bemoan the necessary gender distinction.

Fortunately, a few steps across to contemporary designer label The Fold quickly brought me back to the joys of womanhood. With their high-end “basics” – dresses, jackets, tops and trousers – The Fold help you create a mix-and-match wardrobe to suit even the most fashion conscious of corporate environments.
Those invited were able to chat to the impressive entrepreneurs behind the brands and were privy to two new and exclusive collections. Milliner Vivien Sheriff brought a number of headwear pieces from her not yet launched ‘Sheriff’ range: a definite hit! Designer duo Helen Clinch and Myra Nigris of luxury womenswear label Hemyca also shared exclusives on their new SS 2013 collection.

Guests at the event were invited to try on and buy the displayed designs, which also included wonderfully colourful Lily and Lionel scarves, high-end sportswear brand Lucas Hugh and must-have Otis Batterbee accessories. A big thanks to Gilpins Gin and Love Rosie Cupcakes for keeping us fuelled for our luxury shopping spree. We predict that you’ll hear a lot more from all of these fabulous brands in the future. Remember, you heard it here first…
